Substance Abuse

Much stigma surrounds substance use and abuse. Substances abused are both legal and illegal, and laws around the substances are constantly changing.

Drugs of abuse can include:

  • Tobacco
  • Alcohol
  • Marijuana
  • Synthetic substances such as Kratom and Spice
  • Heroin
  • Methamphetamine
  • Opiates
  • Hallucinogenics

Fortunately, the stigma is changing around the world with regard to substance abuse. It is now realized that there may be a genetic component to addiction. It is also often realized that addictions do not occur independently, but rather as a condition that occurs as a consequence of another disorder (comorbid condition).

The providers at Healthcare at the Grove have experience discussing and treating addictions. If you or someone you love possibly has a dependence on drugs or alcohol, please know that we are not here to judge you, but rather to help you become the best version of you possible.
